Efforts for Vessel's Safety Operation and Environmental Protection

Placing our top priorities on the safety of operations and transportation services as well as environmental protection, we strive on a daily basis for safe navigation in concert with all of our employees, at sea and on land. To this end, we have established a safety management system based on the International Safety Management (ISM) Code and a quality management system in compliance with international standards (ISO 9001:2008).

Our ship has been equipped with a Ballast Water Purification System
pioneering among the industry.

Statement of Fact for the Ballast Water Management System issued by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai

Ballast water is seawater used to stabilize hull balance and such seawater contains plankton, bacteria, mud and sand. As most of the ballast water is discharged together with the plankton, etc. to different sea area from where it was taken, it can damage the local ecosystem. To address this problem, IMO (International Maritime Organization) stipulates that all new ships to be constructed in or after 2012 must install Ballast Water Management Systems on board to meet the Standard provided in the Ballast Water Management Convention which is predicted to take effect in the near future.
We installed a ballast water purification system to our LPG Carrier "SUNNY JOY" in Dec. 2010 as a pioneering company in the industry. This environmentally-friendly system not only realizes the stable treatment without using toxic chemicals but also meets the strict quality standard of the IMO.
